Passports and chipping

Identification of the animal by reading the number of the implanted microchip (transponder) is the most reliable, safe and permanent method of marking. Unlike other commonly used methods (tattoo), it is characterized by the inability to falsify or remove the identifier, its uniqueness and the ease of verifying the data of the owner of the quadruped.

The main idea behind the electronic tagging of animals is to assign a unique number by inserting a microchip into the animal and registering this number in a central database. Only on this basis it is possible to identify the animal and determine the owner. Unfortunately, many times we have to deal with a situation where an electronically tagged animal is not registered in the database and thus it is not possible to identify and return home.

Why is it so important?

Another reason for transponder implantation is traveling with pets.
A transponder (microchip) is necessary to issue a pet passport by a veterinarian. At UltraVet, our doctors are authorized to issue passports for companion animals. A passport is an identification document issued for the purpose of moving pets such as dogs, cats and ferrets between countries.

The passport is issued only by an authorized veterinarian after:
- checking whether the pet is marked in accordance with applicable regulations
- duly completing the relevant items in the identification document with information
- signing the identification document by the owner of the animal.

Formal requirements for passports

The basic requirements are current vaccinations, deworming, chip and passport.

Detailed information on the requirements when traveling with an animal to individual countries of the world can be found on the website: LINK

UltraVet offers a microchip implantation service.
In UltraVet, each chip is registered in an international database.
